FAQs

What if we don't have a 3D model, only 2D CAD?

No problem. We are 3D modeling experts and can build your models in 3D. We will also optimize them for VR and AR during the build process. 3D models can greatly vary. We want to make sure yours are performing their best across devices.

What model file type do you accept?

SketchUp is the preferred file type, but we can use a variety of file types, ranging from CAD, to Rhino, Revit, 3DS, FBX or OJB.

How long does it take to get our models onboarded?

It really depends on where we are starting. If you have 3D model already built that we will need to optimize for Augmented Reality we can have you up and running in as little as a week. If we are programing the 3D model from 2D CAD it can take 2 to 3 weeks.

Onboarding time also depends on the complexity of the model and integration of different materials. More complex models with many different build options can take 4 weeks to program.

How much work/time is involved for the builder?

The Immersed Media team will take care of all the heavy lifting. We have assembled an expert team that will be able to seamlessly take your models (whether they be in 2D or 3D) and program them into beautiful digital representations of your models.

There is very little time and effort needed from the builder. We just need your design files and your list of options or upgrade and pricing (if you want to include prices)

What's the different between a 3D Configurator Tour and Matterport?

Matterports are 3D scans of a space (which we love too). Since they are just scans of the space and not layered 3D models there are limited interactions with the 3D space.

You are able to digitally walk through the space, but you are not able to swap out materials and finishes. Matterports are scan of what currently exists, our 3D Configurator Tour are what "can" be, giving you the ability to design and customize your space.

What kind of equipment will I need?

For the Augmented Reality App - a newer smartphone or ipad. Both newer Android and iPhones work great with the app. For a larger screen experience we recommend the ipad pro, newest generation. It has a lidar scanner integrated which is ideal for AR.

For the Virtual Reality Experiences - Our technology works on google cardboard, but it does not give you the same great experience that an Oculus Quest 2 will offer. There are more powerful tethered (attached to a computer) VR headsets that will also work great and offer an extremely immersive experience. We prefer the Oculus Quest 2 for two simple reasons:

1. the processing power is all located in the headset itself, so you are not limited on your movement by an attached cord to a computer, giving you the freedom to easily walk through rooms in real time and space. The resolution on Quest 2 offers an extremely immersive experience.

2. It's very cost effective. It's only $299 for the lowest memory option (which is plenty for your model experiences).

For the 3D Configurator - This works best on a desktop, laptop or large tablet. It does work on mobile devices as well, but the screens are small and offers limited screen real estate to see the full details of the options and the 3D real time rendered models.
